Polyurethane Materials
Polyurethane is perhaps the most versatile material that Fabri-Tech uses in our production processes. For everything from low cost filter foams to display gaskets on high-end electronic devices to polyurethane insulation, it has proven to be a highly adaptable material.
The earliest polyurethane materials were created by Otto Bayer and his colleagues in Leverkusen, Germany, in 1937. The first commercially available polyurethane products became available in the 1950s, as companies such as DuPont, BASF, and Dow Chemical created new, less expensive versions of the material. Since that time, polyurethanes have become some of the most diverse materials available, used in everything from automobiles and military
applications to furniture, electronics, and footwear.
Custom Polyurethane Converting Services
Fabri-Tech uses polyurethane in a number of our custom production processes. It exhibits a number of useful characteristics that make it ideal for custom converting purposes.
- Polyurethane is easy to fabricate and to adapt to unique customer designs
- It works well with numerous adhesive technologies
- It is available in a range of densities & thicknesses
- Open-cell & closed-cell polyurethanes are available
Our range of polyurethane materials encompasses everything from two pound charcoal esters to Rogers Poron. We can create polyurethane insulation, polyurethane gaskets, polyurethane gap fillers, polyurethane seals, and much more.
Because there are so many different varieties available, polyurethane is ideally suited for use in many of our custom processes. Ultimately, your custom design and the desired function will determine which type of polyurethane and what manufacturing process is used to create the components you need.
